Help us save Lue

The Independent Planning Commission (IPC) recently approved Bowdens Silver to proceed with a massive open-cut Lead Mine at Lue, in the beautiful Mudgee tourist region.

Please take a moment to think about how airborne toxic lead dust and acid mine drainage from a mine like this would impact tourism, agriculture, the wineries, and the region’s long-term health.

Additionally, Bowdens recently applied to extend their exploration licence for metallic minerals to large areas north and east of Lue, much closer to the townships of Mudgee and Rylstone. Given this, the mine at Lue could just be the beginning of an extensive spread of toxic heavy metal mining throughout the area of outstanding natural beauty that is the Mudgee tourist region.

We are going to fight the decision to approve the mine so we can protect our region.

Unfortunately, under current planning laws, an appeal can only be made against a decision to approve a mine if it can be shown the IPC didn’t follow process, NOT that they failed to take into account the merits of the overwhelming evidence showing the unmanageable impacts of the proposed mine.

To appeal this decision, we have to get the planning laws changed and that costs money. So any donations you can make will be very gratefully received.

Please help us save the Mudgee Region!
